What drew me to the Ringed Kingfisher was it’s orange and blue complementary colors. It’s vibrant and lively colors are fitting to its name. Colors seen on the opposite sides of the color wheel are naturally found on the body of this small, rarely seen Texas river-dwelling bird. To me, it’s symbolic of opposition and unity through God’s creation. During times of isolation and social unrest, the Kingfisher reminds me of God’s all-encompassing unconditional love.
Ringed Kingfisher (Megaceryle torquata) held against a natural wood setting. Each mosaic includes a scriptural passage, God’s words of inspiration. My hope is to share the passion of God with others through artwork.
